POSTE ITALIANE

Poste Italiane S.p.A. is a company that deals with the management of the postal service in Italy. It is also one of the most important Italian companies of services, since it is operative in postal, financial, insurance and mobiles services.

It was founded in 1862 as an independent company which had the monopoly of the postal and telegraphic services on behalf of the State. Poste Italiane is currently a limited company owned by the Italian state and it approximately owns the 60% of the social capital by means of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. After the merger between Poste Italiane and the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Economic Development has control and supervision on it. Poste Italiane is listed on the Milan Stock Exchange.
